[The Sweetness of Time and Friendship]
The Malay Gooseberry tree in my front yard has aged alongside me. While its first fruits were flavorless, time has worked its magic, giving this year’s harvest a refreshing tang.
This morning, two Malay neighbors greeted me: "Abang Paul, may we have some fruits?" As I scaled the ladder to fill two bags for them, their voices echoed from below: "Abang Paul, be careful, be safe!"
I realized then that while I planted a tree, I ended up harvesting a beautiful friendship. Grateful for the warmth and care shared across our neighborhood.
